The Book of Acts – November 8, 2007
The book of Acts begins with the Holy Spirit coming to live in the hearts of all believers. The Gospel began in Jerusalem and eventually spread to Rome, covering most of the Roman Empire. The Gospel was first preached to the Jews; but they, as a nation, rejected the Lord and His Work of the Cross. A small number of Jews gladly received the Good News, but the vast majority of the Jewish people had rejected the Lord, and the good news was then spread to the Gentiles as well. This was according to Jesus’ plan: the Gospel was to go from Jerusalem, to Judea, to Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

Christmas Study – December 20, 2007
Born a humble birth, He lay in an animal feeding manger. Not the ideal conditions for the creator of the universe. He experienced the limitations of humanity. He knew what it was to be hungry, thirsty, and tired after a day’s hard work. He knew what it was to laugh and cry. He knew what it was like to be misunderstood and abandoned. He experienced loneliness like no other person ever has.
Though he was God, he did not demand and cling to his rights as God. He made himself nothing; he took the humble position of a slave and appeared in human form. And in human form he obediently humbled himself even further by dying a criminal’s death on a cross.
Jesus made a powerful and radical statement about himself. He said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the father but by me†(John14:6). So when he willingly laid his life down on that crude wooden cross, he was opening the way for us to have a relationship with God.
