The Real You
January 16th, 2008 by Angelos2 Corinthians 5:1 “For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.”
We can have confidence, even in the face of death. Our spirit, the only thing of value that we have, is currently living in a temporary container called a “human body.” This body ages, breaks, and eventually turns to dust. Fortunately, as believers in Jesus, we have the promise of a new life in eternity where our eternal spirit will get an upgraded container. This new container will be similar to Jesus’ resurrected body:
Phil. 3:20, 21 “For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.”
The best thing about this “new” body is that it doesn’t have the sin nature pulling us down, like our current bodies have!
Revelation 22:3 “And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him.”
And God promises we’ll have this new condition “forever!”
Ephesians 3:20, 21 “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”
