Persecution and Trials
December 5th, 2007 by AngelosMatthew 5:11 “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.â€
Persecution for your Christian beliefs can be beneficial. Most of us who have been Christians for any length of time, have run into situations where, because of our trust in Jesus Christ, because we turn to God’s Word to handle situations, we have been sneered at, laughed at, or worse. Yet, even though the comments were meant to be hurtful, backs turned against you for no sound reason, they are actually, ultimately, a “blessing” to us. And instead of cowering in, or allowing them to make us sad, we are to continue to be bold in our testimonies of what God has done for us.
Psalm 119:157 “Many are my persecutors and my enemies, Yet I do not turn from Your testimonies.”
Proverbs 28:1 “The wicked flee when no one pursues, But the righteous are bold as a lion.”
Persecution is also an evidence of Godly living. When you stand up for Jesus, you become a target:
II Timothy 3:12 “Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.”
So, be thankful if you are being persecuted. I thank God as well.
James 1:2-3 “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.”
Regarding those who treat you unfairly, and who mock, excommunicate, and persecute you….
Matt. 5:44-45 “But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.”
Have a blessed day.

I look forward to seeing everyone each Thursday to get into God’s Word!
